Primary Court Level Discription
This is a lowest level of Courts in hierarchy. The Court is established under section 3(1) of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, [CAP 11 R.E 2019]. It exercises criminal and civil jurisdiction within the district of its establishment. The Court also has appellate and revisional jurisdiction over Ward Tribunals. Much as Primary Courts are supposed to be established in every Administrative Ward in order to facilitate accessibility to justice, only 785 are currently operational.
